Product truth
Evidence — what GABBI actually does
This page lists what GABBI 0.3.0 does, exactly how you can check each claim yourself on your own machine, and — just as importantly — what it does not do yet. Nothing here is time-limited, scored against other buyers, or backed by a testimonial. It is a checklist, not a pitch.
Offline operation
GABBI runs fully offline. Extraction, drafting, templates, export and invoicing all execute on your device; the acceptance-test suite proves zero network sockets open during normal use (AC-1/AC-5).
How to check it yourselfTurn off Wi-Fi (or unplug the network cable), then use every AI feature — extraction, drafting each of the three templates and five artefact types, exporting a note, generating an invoice. Nothing should fail for lack of a connection.
LimitThis describes the desktop application only. The website you are reading this on, the licence-purchase flow and the GABBI Guide chat are online services and do require a connection.
Licence import works offline.
How to check it yourselfDisconnect the network, then import your licence file — activation should complete without a connection.
Transcript import
GABBI does not record or transcribe audio. It imports an existing transcript file through a file picker and builds a note from it.
How to check it yourselfLook for a microphone or "record" control anywhere in the app — there isn't one. Use "Fetch the transcript" to load a text transcript file you already have, and confirm that is the only way audio-derived text enters a note.
LimitIf you don't already have a text transcript, GABBI does not produce one for you — a transcription step upstream of this is on you.
Bounded drafting
Drafting covers exactly 3 clinical templates: Suivi (follow-up), Bilan Initial (initial assessment) and Compte-rendu (summary report).
How to check it yourselfOpen the template picker when starting a new note and count the clinical templates on offer — there are three, named exactly as above.
LimitAny other clinical document shape is not a built-in template — draft it as one of the five free-form artefact classes instead (see 'freeform-drafting').
Inside the 3 clinical templates, certain fields are protected: they are firewalled in code so the AI model cannot author their content, whatever the prompt.
How to check it yourselfOpen a note using one of the three templates and try to get the AI to fill a protected field (for example, a risk-assessment field) directly. It stays blank, or editable by you only — AI output never lands there.
LimitThis is a mechanical code limit (note-assembler), not a quality promise about the fields the AI is allowed to write.
Beyond the clinical templates, drafting supports 5 free-form artefact classes: session summary, administrative letter, clinical reshaping, psychoeducation outline, and generic paperwork.
How to check it yourselfAsk GABBI to draft one document of each of the five listed types. Eight total supported shapes exist (3 templates + 5 classes); anything else is outside the supported surface.
LimitA request outside these eight shapes will not reliably produce a usable result — it is not a hidden ninth category.
Confidentiality
Your clinical content never leaves your device — GABBI does not upload notes, transcripts or client data anywhere — and you remain the author of record: every AI-drafted passage is handed to you for review, correction and sign-off before it counts as your documentation.
How to check it yourselfRepeat the offline test above while drafting a note, then confirm the app presents AI text as a draft awaiting your edit and sign-off, rather than finalising it automatically.
LimitThis describes the product’s designed behaviour, not a guarantee against a user manually copying content elsewhere afterwards.
Export & invoicing
Notes export to PDF, DOCX and Markdown.
How to check it yourselfExport the same note in all three formats and open each file in a reader or editor outside GABBI (a PDF viewer, Word/LibreOffice, a plain text editor).
GABBI generates a local invoice PDF.
How to check it yourselfCreate an invoice with the network off (see ‘offline-operation’) and confirm the PDF appears on disk.
Local AI models
The bundled AI runs from a local Qwen3-4B Q8_0 extraction model (4.28 GB) plus a separate local drafting model — both ship inside the installer download, never called from the cloud.
How to check it yourselfCheck the installer archive or the on-disk model files for GGUF files of this size, and confirm there is no AI-related network traffic during use (see ‘offline-operation’).
Platform & release
0.3.0 ships as a Windows NSIS installer only, inside one Zip64 archive containing the installer and two GGUF model files (the installer cannot embed them).
How to check it yourselfOpen the downloaded archive: you should find one NSIS/.exe installer and two .gguf files — nothing more, nothing macOS-specific.
LimitmacOS is deferred for this release, and the installer has not yet been run end-to-end on a Windows host — see “Tested on Windows” in what we don't claim below.
Pricing
Four price points before applicable tax: €29 (monthly), €69 (quarterly), €219 (annual) and €299 (one-time). Polar shows the final total including applicable tax before order confirmation.
How to check it yourselfCompare the recurring or one-time list price with checkout. Monthly offers eligible first trials: card validation, €0 now, then the first payment after 14 days and €29/month before applicable tax thereafter. Check the exact date, any first-payment discount and final total including tax in Polar. Other plans are paid immediately with no trial.
Every paid plan carries exactly the same AI — only the licence duration differs. After licensed access ends, the installed app falls back to Free: any unused portion of 5 lifetime AI drafts, with no reset. Assistant chat requires a licence and is not part of that allowance. Free is not a public download route.
How to check it yourselfObtain the app through a confirmed trial, paid entitlement or manually issued community access. Sign in to GABBI with the email used for that access, then download from your dashboard. In its unlicensed fallback, check the remaining lifetime drafts and the licence requirement for assistant chat. The notes and templates editor, transcript import, PDF/DOCX/Markdown export and local invoicing remain free and unmetered, with no cap on notes or clients.
LimitThe allowance covers both drafting surfaces (clinical templates and free-form documents) from one shared count of 5. That counter lives in your own local database on your own machine, because the app makes no network calls. We are telling you this rather than pretending it is tamper-proof: it is a trial allowance, not copy protection.
The €299 tier, before applicable tax, is a true lifetime licence: one payment, no renewal, no expiry date is issued for it.
How to check it yourselfCheck the licence issued for the lifetime purchase for an expiry field, and compare it with a subscription tier's licence, which does carry a renewal or expiry date.
What GABBI doesn't do yet
Naming this plainly costs nothing to admit and saves you a wasted evaluation.
Search or retrieval over your own notes
Verified against the codebase on 3 September 2026: there is no local full-text search over note content anywhere in the product (the note list filters by folder label only). The single retrieval code path is embedding-based and requires a local Ollama service on port 11434 plus a local Postgres database — neither ships in the installer. The chat UI’s "search folders" control has no effect in this build.
Any "14B" AI capability
The 14B retrieval-augmented path exists in the codebase but needs a local Ollama service (port 11434) and a local Postgres database (port 5432), neither of which ships with the installer. The retail build always falls back to the bundled 4B model.
Automatic file organisation ("Librarian")
The code for this exists but is not wired into anything the shipped app runs.
Audio recording or automatic speech-to-text transcription
The speech-to-text backend command still compiles but no interface calls it and no speech model ships. Import an existing transcript file instead (see ‘transcript-import’).
"Signed" or "verified publisher" installer
Authenticode code-signing does not exist yet. The current archive carries only a dev-signed manifest, which Windows SmartScreen will show as an unverified publisher.
"Tested on Windows"
The installer has not yet been run end-to-end on a Windows host.
An in-app AI guide or chat companion ("Mrs Branchy")
Feature-gated off in this build (compile flag plus an environment flag), and held off by an acceptance test that asserts it stays off. The branch graphic in the app is decorative only.
